2025 TRON Symposium (TRONSHOW), will be held from 10 to 12 December 2025 in Tokyo, Japan with the technical co-sponsorship of the IEEE Consumer Technology Society. This symposium is an open, international forum that welcomes research on embedded computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and ubiquitous computing, regardless of specific operating systems, platforms, or vendors. Topics span from foundational hardware and software technologies to large-scale systems, data-driven services, and societal applications such as smart cities, mobility, healthcare, and manufacturing. This symposium is an IEEE peer-reviewed academic conference track held within the broader TRON Symposium and will feature sessions for research paper presentations.
TRON Symposium is an international event that brings together industry professionals, researchers, practitioners, and government representatives engaged in IoT, ubiquitous computing, and embedded systems. In addition to the paper presentation sessions, TRON Symposium will feature panel discussions, tutorial sessions and an accompanying exhibition.

Paper submission deadline | October 10th |
Notification of acceptance | November 14th |
Final paper submission (for accepted papers) | November 28th |
Prospective authors in the embedded systems industry and the emerging field of IoT are invited to submit full papers or short papers for presentation. All submissions will undergo peer review. Accepted and presented papers will be included in the conference proceedings and submitted to IEEE for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore® digital library. Only original papers subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements that have not been published or submitted elsewhere will be considered.
Full papers must be written in English, up to 8 pages in length including figures and tables, and prepared using the supplied template.
Short papers, intended particularly for busy practitioners, should be between 2 and 4 pages in length. See “Topics of Interest” at the end of this call for relevant subjects for the symposium and the accompanying exhibition.
Those wishing to submit papers should first register an abstract of up to approximately 300 words that explains the main content of the final submission. This must be done via EDAS before the paper submission deadline. Please indicate whether you are submitting a full paper or a short paper. A check box is provided in the submission form at the URL shown below.
The process for registering your paper and abstract is as follows:
If you are not registered in EDAS, please do so.: https://edas.info
Please register your paper (title, author, etc.) to 2025 TRON Symposium at EDAS: https://tron2025.edas.info/
Enter the abstract as plain text into the web submission form during paper registration. Subsequently, upload the draft of your full paper or short paper.
All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed. Authors will be notified of acceptance by the date specified in the “Notification of acceptance.” For accepted papers, the final version must be submitted by “Final Paper Submission” deadline. IEEE PDF eXpress will be used to validate the final version to ensure it conforms to the IEEE format. Detailed instructions for using IEEE PDF eXpress will be sent to authors whose papers have been accepted.
Authors are required to present their papers during the presentation sessions of the symposium. Since the conference is a hybrid, online presentations are also permitted.
The scope of the symposium can be broadly divided into two main categories: (1) embedded systems, and (2) IoT (or ubiquitous computing) applications and services. In recent years, the boundaries between these areas have become increasingly blurred, driven by advances in real-world IoT implementations—such as RFID-based tracking systems, networks of small sensor nodes, edge computing, and cloud-based data processing.
Topics of interest for the symposium include, but are not limited to, the following:
TRON Project was established in 1984. It aims to build the open architecture of advanced embedded systems. It has developed very popular TRON real-time OS (RTOS) family: ITRON specification, and T-Kernel, for example. TRON Project’s original goal included the vision of “Computer Everywhere” which is basically the same as ubiquitous computing or the IoT (the Internet of Things). Today, the embedded systems technology is used widely to support the IoT. The project has influenced ICT industry very much. For example, TRON RTOS family has more than 60% of embedded systems market share in Japan. The project has led the IoT research by introducing ucode, an identifier system as part of its IoT application framework called uID architecture. (See https://www.tron.org/ for the detailed background on TRON Project.)
To disseminate the result of the project and foster communication of interested parties, TRON Project has held the annual TRON Symposium for the last 39 years. TRON Symposium is the place to discuss the applications and services of the IoT in the future such as the home electronic appliances, homes, buildings and cities of the future, and to discuss the nuts and bolts of embedded systems such as RTOS kernel, the implementation issues such as the interaction of the IoT paradigm and Cloud. We welcome discussions of the impact of technology on society.
We will hold the annual exhibition of products, services, and publication related to TRON Project in parallel to the symposium.
